A PLACE FOR EVERY STORY

From a continent to a quiet little town.

Choose the scale that fits your story. These are illustrative ChatGPT samples.

THE IMAGE IS JUST THE START

A world map. Then your own story.

Let AI illustrate the setting. Keep the names, grid and finishing touches in your hands.

Describe the terrain and landmarks, then choose parchment, watercolor, ink or painted art. Prompts request no lettering, so you can name places yourself instead of fixing AI text.

The image shown is a prepared ChatGPT sample, not a live generation.

  • Editable place names
  • Square & hex grids
  • Compass & scale bar
  • PNG image export

Starts with the unlabeled original. Editing is free; no sign-in needed.

For the worlds only you can imagine

Choose the scale of your next story.

Build the world first. Tell its story next. Our AI fantasy map generator creates the terrain; you choose the names, the scale and where the adventure begins.

  1. Start with a world for continents and kingdoms, or a region for the routes between adventure locations.
  2. Zoom in with a city, town or castle map when streets, gathering places and approaches matter more than coastlines.
  3. Add names and grids in the browser editor, then export a PNG. Each map is a separate illustration, not an automatically linked atlas.

Try this prompt: An ancient continent divided by a great mountain range, with scattered islands, winding rivers and deep forests. No text or labels.

A MAP WITH A PURPOSE

For the stories you are already telling.

Choose the view that helps you plan, write or play.

01

For game masters

Give your group a shared view of the world, the next town and the routes between them. Export a player handout and keep your own annotated copy.

02

For fiction writers

Explore the geography behind your story. Mark places as you draft, from the capital’s districts to the small town your characters call home.

03

For worldbuilders

Try a setting before committing to every detail. Start at continent scale, then create separate illustrations for the places you want to explore.

FROM YOUR SCREEN TO YOUR STORY

Take the map with you.

A downloadable image, not a locked-in project format.

Keep the original

Download the clean image before adding annotations. Export a separate PNG from the editor for each version you want to share.

Use it in your VTT

Import a PNG as an image in Roll20 or Foundry. Choose grid dimensions and pixels per cell in the editor, or export without a grid.

No scene files, walls, lighting or automatic grid alignment.

Prepare a handout

Set your output dimensions, then place the PNG in your layout or print workflow. Check the result at its intended size before printing.

Larger canvas dimensions do not add detail to the source image.

YOUR FREE MAP WORKBENCH

Your map. Your names. Your rules.

Upload a map or use a sample above. Editing stays in your browser and needs no account.

Images keep their aspect ratio. Any unused canvas area is padded with parchment; the preview and PNG use the same renderer.

ROOM FOR YOUR NEXT ADVENTURE

A few maps, or a whole campaign.

Browser editing stays free. AI generation has a fixed credit allowance.

BEFORE YOU SET OFF

A few things to know.

Is the fantasy map generator free?

Grid overlays, labels, compass marks and PNG export are free and run in your browser. AI generation uses credits; monthly plans have a fixed allowance, not unlimited generation.

Can I use the maps in Roll20 or Foundry?

Export a PNG with a square grid at 70 or 100 pixels per cell, or use pointy-top hexes. This is image export, not a VTT scene: walls, lighting and line of sight are not included.

Why are there no place names in generated maps?

AI lettering can be unreliable. Prompts explicitly request no text. Add your own readable names in the free browser editor instead.

Can I make precise battle maps?

Not yet. Our test maps did not meet the strict overhead-view and object-scale requirements. World and city maps are available first; a grid overlay does not fix incorrect perspective.

Can I sell a book that includes my map?

Commercial licensing is planned for paid plans, subject to the image provider’s terms. It is not offered during this preview. AI output is not guaranteed unique or copyrightable; avoid protected settings and review your use.

THE NEXT CHAPTER IS YOURS

Give your next idea a place on the map.

Start with a description, or bring a map you already have. The browser editor is free either way.
